WORDSMITH ยท WORD PLAY

How to play Wordsmith

Five words. One board. Make every tile count.

Find five different words on one board. Trace tiles that touch along an edge or corner. You may use each tile once in a word, but you can reuse it in your next word. Words need at least three letters.

Drag across tiles, or tap them in order, then press Add word. Tap an earlier tile to shorten your path back to that tile. Clear starts the path again. Each chunk such as TH or ING contributes all its letters in order.

Your word score adds every tile's point value and a length bonus: 3 letters +0, 4 +2, 5 +5, 6 +9, 7 +14, 8 +20. Each letter beyond eight adds another seven points.

Rotate changes only your view, not the board or scores. Hint reveals the next tile of a strong word you have not found, one step at a time. If your current path does not follow that word, the hint restarts at its first tile.

After five words, see your total, each word's tile points and length bonus, and the best possible five-word total. Good find is below 45% of the best word score; Great find starts at 45%; Excellent starts at 72%; Best on board matches the highest score.

The daily board changes at midnight UTC. The archive keeps past boards, unlimited deals new ones, and numbered puzzles always keep their seed. Leaderboard scores are checked again by the server; implausibly fast rounds are rejected.
